Accredited laboratories can be confident that their calibration and test reports are accurate within the scope of accreditation.

It is a part of TTM’s quality policy to return confidence to society.

- The development of residue tests by the QuEChERS procedure: The Thai tobacco leaf export industry is currently suffering from the problem of the overuse of insecticides and pesticides, whereby tobacco leaves are found to be rich in toxic residues over and above the export standard levels of USDA, FDA, etc. Moreover, social responsibility of the business sector has pushed business organizations to be more aware of social and environmental problems, in addition to profit-making, with more national and international parties giving an increased priority to this issue. This is because businesses can operate sustainably only when the economy, society and environment are doing well, while all government and private parties concerned with production and quality control and inspection must put their heads together to work out standard operational policies and guidelines on toxic residue control and inspection.

TTM, involve in tobacco leaf production, has a policy to procure and produce high-quality tobacco leaves without toxic residues and it is thus necessary to find measures to accommodate this policy. Trainings to provide farmers with knowledge and control on insecticides and pesticides, including the types of banned chemicals, utilization procedures and correct amounts of use, etc. as well as surveillance and inspection of toxic residues on tobacco leaves. The development of test methods by the QuEChERS procedure is another measure to help increase the potential for detecting residues, both insecticides and pesticides which increase every year, along with testing speed, in order to cope with the rising number of samples. The information obtained is used for planning actions to prevent, control and solve problems arising from the incorrect use of insecticides and pesticides on a long-term basis.
