Thailand Tobacco Monopoly (TTM) is a state enterprise as a revenue contribution agency under the umbrella of the Ministry of Finance. It carries on a monopolised business in tobacco manufacturer and distribution. In 2009, its revenues contribution to the government consists of taxes, subsidies, special supplement, etc. About 90% of its revenues from cigarette sales has accounted for country development.

Thailand Tobacco Monopoly has transformed significantly since it was established 70 years ago. We have currently witnessed various anti-smoking campaigns including the public sector responsible for public health, health organisation and mass media. The conclusion of ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) allows foreign tobacco companies to distribute cigarettes in the country, increasing their market share in Thailand. In the meantime, the enforcement of relevant laws has imposed restrictions to TTM’s operations. However, its mission shall generate revenue for the country, it has adopted a proactive business approach in order to maintain its market share as well as the current consumers. TTM carefully takes into account the health of consumers and does not aim to promote new smokers. Its products are met international standards and satisfied by the existing consumers. A particular priority of TTM is the improvement of cigarette quality and clean tabacco leaf which meets the smokers’ needs. It has initiated projects supporting non-residue tobacco plantation and constructing environmental friendly tobacco curing barns. In addition, TTM also continuously develops manufacturing processes and packaging, IT-utilization and importantly introduces measures to increase revenues and cut costs of the organization, optimise asset management.

Apart from the core mission to generate revenues for country development, TTM also places community interests among its priorities by supporting various social projects more than 200 million baht per year. The projects cover quality of life, health and sanitation, education, sports, religion, arts and culture, social welfare, nature and environment conservation including the royal projects.

On the occasion of the 70th establishment anniversary of Thailand Tobacco Monopoly in 2009, TTM is committed to progress and deliver its transformation ambition through many significant projects as guided by the policies set out by the Ministry of Finance. They, included with the juristic person organization, improvement of TTM Hospital and new TTM construction. In order to implement these projects to meet the Ministry policy, TTM must strictly observe the statutory requirements, ensure transparency and traceability. Our operations truly succeed with the cooperation of everyone as team work. They know their own roles and adhere to the principles of corporate governance and public interest in order to drive the organisation steadily and sustainably according to the vision and mission. We can take TTM to a leading organisation in tobacco business with social and environmental responsibility and the nation.
